Ashiana Housing Lahore – Shahbaz Sharif Visits under construction sports complex

LAHORE (November 6, 2011) : Ashiana housing scheme phase-I is being developed at Ferozepur road lahore, which will consist of almost more than 2000 residential houses for poor and needy families. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said Aashiyana Housing schemes are for the poor, widows, workers and farmers.

He said the dream of “Apna Ghar-Apni Jannat” of the poor has materialized through Aashiyana Housing schemes in Jhelum, Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Sargodha, whereas these schemes would be started in more 17 districts. He disclosed that the work on Aashiyana-II on Barki Road will start on December 25.

He was addressing a briefing during his visit to under-construction Aashiana Housing Scheme at Saroba Atari Sunday. The meeting reviewed the progress of Aashiyana-I, II and Aashiyana Housing schemes in other districts.

Punjab Land Development Company Chairman Sheikh Allauddin MPA, Chairman Planning & Development, Additional Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Housing, Commissioner, District Coordination Lahore and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said Aashiyana Housing schemes are unique with regard to speed, quality and transparency and most modern facilities are being provided in these schemes which included construction of schools, hospitals, parks, mosques, playgrounds and vocational training centres. He said that houses have been allotted through balloting in a most transparent manner in the first Aashiana Housing scheme in Lahore. He said that the resources are the trust of the nation and besides other development projects, utilization of every single penny of the public money is also being ensured in Aashiyana Housing schemes. He said that the policy of austerity should be observed in Aashiyana Housing schemes and acquiring of government land should be preferred for these schemes. He said that an Aashiyana city Lahore consisting of more than 20 thousand houses would be set up on Barki Road in Lahore and this project will be a unique with regard to architecture, quality and transparency. He said that the work on Aashiyana Housing-II Lahore will be started from December 25, 2011 and this project will be completed under a phased programme.
