CDA bonanza : Windfall of plots (One Kanal) for Each Members of Parliament
Each member parliament to get one kanal plot in Kurri Road area Islamabad:
ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) that did not launch a proper residential sector for last two decades has finalised a housing project under which 700 parliamentarians and some other important personalities will be allotted one kanal plot each.
According to sources, a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi was held on Monday. All the officials related to the residential projects participated in it. Officials told CDA chairman that design of the housing scheme for the parliamentarians had been prepared and 700 parliamentarian will be allotted one plot each measuring one kanal i.e. 50X90 feet. They said CDA would auction the commercial plots in the scheme, which will also have parks, mosques and community centre.
They said the project will be located on Kuri Road but the name of the housing scheme could not be selected so far. The parliamentarians housing scheme will be spread on 172 acres near the Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) residential scheme having an area of 90 acres, they said.
They said park road has become one of the most important areas of the capital and that scheme is just a few kilometers away from the park road. They said Kuri road had been already constructed due to which CDA could start the project any time. They said it had been decided that Kuri double road would be constructed till Bhara Kahu to give access to the society from both sides. Although CDA is all set to launch a residential project for the parliamentarians, its management has forgotten the residents of Islamabad, as they have not launched any proper residential project for the last two decades. Last time sector I-15 was launched, but in that sector all the plots (over 5000) were of small sizes i.e. 25X50 feet and 30X60 feet due to which it could not be considered a proper sector.
The basic purpose of CDA is to provide the residential facilities to the citizens, but CDA has been working on a residential project for the parliamentarians rather than for the citizens, which shows that priorities of civic body has been changed and it is working for the welfare of the elite class rather than citizens of federal capital.
