Shahbaz Sharif Visits Ashiana Housing Project in Lahore
Lahore (Saturday, October 20, 2012) – Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the Ashiana Housing Scheme at 7am today. CM inspected various parts of this housing scheme personally and instructed concerned officials to leave no stone unturned in making this scheme better than the private housing schemes. CM also spent some time with the residents inquiring about their experience of living in Ashiyana.
The residents were extremely content and expressed gratitude to the CM for providing them with a roof of their own on very simple terms. It took years of planning and hard work but finally the dream of providing affordable and quality housing facilities (including mosques, schools, parks etc) to the lower income families is coming true. Houses have been given through a transparent process of balloting with a special quota for widows and orphans.
Initial phase of 27,000 houses is close to completion in Barki, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jehlum and Sahiwal. Survey has been completed for 25,000 houses in Sheikupura, Bhakar, Muzafargarh, Multan, Bahawalpur, Chiniot, Qasoor, Vehari and Bahawalnagar. InshaAllah soon people from every district in Punjab will see their dreams of a better life fulfilled.
